7 Common First Aid Mistakes


Whenever there is an emergency you may get panic and may cause a lot of different common mistakes which are definitely not to be done. Here are the most common mistakes you make.



1

Nose bleed

·         When you are having a nose bleed don’t tilt head back. Otherwise the blood may cause chocking or you may swallow the blood.

ü  Always tilt your head forward. Put pressure on the bridge of your nose. Take deep Breaths from the mouth.

If a person loses consciousness

·         Don’t ever cause a fainted person to sit.

ü  Always check the heart rate. Raise the legs off the floor.
Also when they come back to consciousness don’t push them too hard, they may again lose consciousness.

Sprain or fracture

·         Don’t put heat or heated objects on sprain or fracture.

ü  Always use ice pack for a sprain or fracture. Don't put the ice directly on body.

Removing debris from wound

·         Don’t remove any kind of debris from the wound or you may cause any bacterial infection.

ü  Always let the doctor remove the debris or remove it using washed hands and sterile tools.

Burns

·         Don’t treat a burn too quickly. A burn needs time to heal.

ü  Hold the burn under water for at least 20 minutes.

Chocking

·         Don’t give a chocking person water to drink. The chocking may become severe. Don’t slap their back when they are standing straight.

ü  Slap their back leaning them forward.

Bleeding

·         Don’t immediately use tourniquet to stop bleeding. Tourniquet may stop the blood supply to the whole limb.

ü  Put pressure on the wound with hand to stop bleeding. Use a sterile gauze. If still bleeding doesn’t stop then use a tourniquet.
