Heat exhaustion and heat stroke emergency
A person standing in sun for a long time may suffer from
heat exhaustion. He shows the following symptoms:
- He can’t stand up.
- He starts sweating excessively.
You should do the
following:
- Immediately get the person out of the sun to any air conditioned or any shady place.
- Hydrate the person with water.
- Look for any sport drink having less sugar.
Heat exhaustion leads to heat stroke if not treated
correctly. If a person is having a heat stroke he may:
- Start talking funny.
- Passes out.
You should do the
following things:
- Move them to any shady area.
- Start fanning them off.
- Remove any extra clothing.
- Put water on the body or wet towel all over the body.
- Make sure you not cover the entire neck with the wet towels.
- Put ice bags around the neck in arm pits and groin region.
- Call an emergency.
