Emergency First Aid for Heatstroke


Heat exhaustion and heat stroke emergency




A person standing in sun for a long time may suffer from heat exhaustion. He shows the following symptoms:
  • He can’t stand up.
  • He starts sweating excessively.

You should do the following:
  • Immediately get the person out of the sun to any air conditioned or any shady place.
  • Hydrate the person with water.
  • Look for any sport drink having less sugar.

Heat exhaustion leads to heat stroke if not treated correctly. If a person is having a heat stroke he may:
  • Start talking funny.
  • Passes out.

You should do the following things:
  • Move them to any shady area.
  • Start fanning them off.
  • Remove any extra clothing.
  • Put water on the body or wet towel all over the body.
  • Make sure you not cover the entire neck with the wet towels.
  • Put ice bags around the neck in arm pits and groin region.
  • Call an emergency.
